## What Outstatic is

Outstatic is a Git-based dashboard for Markdown and MDX that installs inside a Next.js app, or runs as a hosted PRO dashboard over any GitHub repository. Collections, custom fields, singletons, and a metadata index cover most content sites, and the free self-hosted version is unlimited.

It is source-available under the Functional Source License rather than open source, GitHub-only, and its statuses stop at draft or published: there is no approval step, and team roles are a PRO feature. Free-tier editors sign in with GitHub; PRO adds email magic links and Google.
