What Sitepins is

Sitepins is the closest thing to a direct rival on this list: a Git-based panel aimed at handing Astro, Next.js, Hugo, and other framework sites to non-technical teammates and clients. It auto-detects fields from existing Markdown and front matter, invites editors by email so nobody needs a GitHub account, and organizes sites into per-client organizations. Open-sourced under AGPL in July 2026, with a free hosted Hobby tier.

It is a form-based admin, not chat: editing a post means a Frontmatter tab of fields and a Content tab with a rich-text toolbar. Review is a branch-and-pull-request workflow on the Pro plan, coarser than a per-field policy, and the free tier is one user and three sites.

Why it is number 8

Free hosted tier, cheap paid tiers, GitLab on Pro. A form-based panel that a rare editor must relearn.

Pros

  • Free hosted tier, cheap paid tiers, unlimited AGPL self-hosting
  • Editors join by email, sites grouped in per-client organizations
  • Fields auto-detected from Markdown and front matter

Cons

Skip it if one of these is a deal-breaker.

  • Form-based panel a rare editor must relearn
  • Review is a Pro-plan branch and PR flow, not per edit
  • GitLab only from the $29 Team plan; one user on the free tier

Pricing

Hobby free (3 sites, 1 user); Pro $12/mo, Team $29/mo, Agency $49/mo, less on annual billing; lifetime licenses from $249; self-hosting free under AGPL.
